I spent 3 weeks in “Mariri – Home of Ayahuasca” centre and my stay could not have been better. Although my work with Ayahuasca was different then what I expected it was a life-changing experience. My advice to all who think about drinking the shamanic plant is not to compare your own expectations to what you have heard about it from friends or found on the Internet. You will go through the journey of your own that is unique and exactly what you need.
My retreat was related to some health issues and even during my stay I started to feel how Ayahuasca was influencing my state of well being. Almost immediately I started to feel stronger, with more energy. Drinking herb infusions and staying on strict diet was in my opinion the key to making this happen. Now a week after the retreat and back home to the US I feel great with blood pressure down to perfect numbers and positive attitude.
Another aspect of staying at Mariri centre is the hospitality of the hosts – Irene and Viktor. At every moment I felt I am cared for by them at the highest level of care one can get. Coming to the foreign country for such a long time could be a bit intimidating but both of them made sure that I fell welcomed and all my physical and emotional needs are taken care of. Irene with her wisdom, gentleness and knowledge of curative plants cannot be overstated. I will never forget how well I was received by her and I believe this was also an important factor in my experience.
Also, Victor with his sense of humour, his knowledge of local culture and Spanish skills was very helpful from the moment I landed in Iquitos to the moment I boarded the plane back home.
Overall staying in the Mariri Centre was a wonderful experience and I would recommend it to anyone – it will be money best spent in your entire life!
